We met Claudia in Israel. She has been carving out a life for herself there for years now, returning to her native Colombia when she can to spend time with her family. We spent a weekend shooting together and got some great shots, including of her tattoos. This is our first bilingual page, following English with Spanish in the following sections, all written by Claudia, herself.
Conocimos a Claudia en Israel. Allí ha ido construyendo su vida desde hace ya varios años, regresando a su Colombia natal siempre que puede para pasar tiempo con su familia. Pasamos un fin de semana fotografiando juntas y obtuvimos imágenes increíbles, incluidas fotos de sus tatuajes. My Daughter, Alejandra / Alejandra, Mi Hija
My first tattoo was my daughter’s name, and for me it represents the most beautiful and valuable thing in my life. Wherever I go, I always carry her with me. I thought I would only get that one, but I ended up really liking tattoos.
Mi primer tatuaje fue el nombre de mi hija y, bueno, para mí significa lo más hermoso y valioso que tengo en mi vida. A dónde voy, siempre la llevo conmigo. Pensé que solo me haría ese, pero me empezaron a gustar.
Family is Love / Familia es amor
My second tattoo was a butterfly with the message “Family is Love.” I believe the phrase says it all, and the butterfly is there because I love them and they are closely connected to my zodiac sign, Aries. In fact, I still want to get a few more butterflies.
El segundo tatuaje fue el de la mariposa con el mensaje “Family is Love”, o “familia es amor”. Creo que la frase lo dice todo, y la mariposa es porque me encantan y están muy ligadas a mi signo, Aries. De hecho, todavía quiero hacerme otras cuantas mariposas.
Lunar Eclipse / Eclipse lunar
Then I got the lunar eclipse tattoo. I really like the phases of the moon.
Luego me hice el del eclipse lunar. Me gustan mucho las fases lunares.
Flower / Flor
After that, I got the flower tattoo. I love nature, especially flowers.
Después me hice el de la flor. Me encanta la naturaleza y, especialmente, las flores.
World Travel / Recorriendo el mundo
The last tattoo I got was the one on my back. I got it when the opportunity to travel to Israel came up. For me, it represented a new beginning in my life. I flew halfway around the world, which is why there’s an airplane and a world map, and when I realized I would be living in a city close to the sea, I also wanted to include seashells and palm trees.
El último tatuaje que me hice fue el de la espalda. Ese me lo hice cuando surgió el viaje a Israel. Para mí significó un nuevo comienzo en mi vida. Volé medio mundo, por eso el avión y el mapa del mundo, y cuando me di cuenta de que vendría a vivir a una ciudad cerca del mar, también quise poner en él las conchas y las palmeras.
We loved getting to know Claudia. She is an extraordinary person who has led a life filled with the satisfactions of family and the adventures of travel and always has time to share with friends. We were expecially honored to celebrate her 49th birthday through these photos.
Nos encantó conocer a Claudia. Es una persona extraordinaria que ha llevado una vida llena de las satisfacciones de la familia y las aventuras de los viajes, y siempre tiene tiempo para compartir con los amigos.
